The University of Toronto Mississauga Sexual Education and Peer Support Centre (UTM SEC) respectfully acknowledges that our organization takes place on the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation as well as the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, and the Seneca. As a student group working towards fostering healthy sexuality within our campus community, we recognize the impacts of colonialism, homophobia, transphobia, racism and systems of oppression which have a deleterious effect seen in Indigenous communities and other marginalized communities today resulting in inequities in healthcare outcomes and access to healthcare resources. The UTM SEC recognizes this and aims to bridge gaps in socioeconomic status and other intersectional identities to provide sexual education and resources for all students. This territory is still home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and as Treaty people, we recognize our responsibility to engage in truth and reconciliation in a meaningful manner and we continue to provide services to the people who call this land home today.
